For all the headaches caused by the bureaucracy and regulatory uncertainty that have descended on the US Gulf of Mexico after the BP oil spill, the predominant sentiment among some of the companies most leveraged to the embattled region is one of staunch optimism. That sentiment was evident at the Pritchard Energize Conference in San Francisco earlier this month and while executives generally make upbeat pitches to investors at such gatherings, the fact remains that these companies are also willing to put their money where their mouth is.
