摘要

Since 2005, the Gulf of Mexico's offshore E&P industry has been lucky, enjoying half a decade of relative calm since hurricanes Katrina and Rita shredded rigs, platforms and pipelines. "The US was fortunate last year. Winds steered most of the season's tropical storms and all hurricanes away from our coastlines," said Jane Lubcheno, administrator for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. "However, we can't count on luck to get us through this season."
