Last week Freestone Resources formed a joint venture with MEA Solutions - Freestone Water Solutions - to deal with water and its use by E&P companies working to develop shale plays in Texas.Water is key to hydraulic fracturing - the process used to unlock oil and natural gas formations. According to Texas officials, about 85% of the gas wells now being developed in the state use hydraulic fracturing.It is also in short supply throughout Texas as the Lone Star State continues to deal with a record drought that is pitting the E&P industry against towns and communities jealously guarding their resources.
