Atlas Energy Sheds MLP Status; Frees Funds to Develop Marcellus

Marcellus Shale operator Atlas Energy has become the latest upstream master limited partnership (MLP) to fall prey to the current economic crisis. The Pennsylvania-based company said last week that it will abandon its MLP structure and merge with parent company Atlas America.
