Utility IDs Leaking Well at California Site

The exact well leaking at Southern California Gas' Aliso Canyon natural gas storage facility near the Porter Ranch neighborhood of Los Angeles was identified last week, with officials saying re lief wells will be the only way to stem the leak. In a statement on its website, the utility said the leak is coming from an access well identified as SS 25, which is one of 115 spread out over 3,600 acres at the site. The leak is coming from 'a 7-inch diameter steel pipeline that allows natural gas to be put into a naturally occurring underground storage field,' SoCalGas said.
