摘要

The Canadian military has joined the ranks of those with serious reservations about TransCanada's proposed Energy East pipeline, the Calgary-based pipeline giant's plan to convert some of its gas pipelines now in place between Alberta and Ontario and build new crude pipes between eastern Ontario and Atlantic tidewater in St. John, New Brunswick. As Canada's National Energy Board (NEB) began hearings into the C$15.7 billion pipeline proposal last week, documents obtained by the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC) show that the military is gravely concerned about the possibility of an oil spill at the major military base at Petawawa, Ontario, where officials have been asking TransCanada hard questions about a section of pipeline that transits the garrison and crosses the nearby Petawawa River.
