With forecast updates calling for a very hot late August and early September, storage injections could trend lower. The heat that had temperatures well above 100 degrees last week in Texas is expected to move to the Midwest and Northeast this week, bringing above 90 degree temperatures to the high demand areas of Chicago and New York City. Where inventories will be on Oct. 31 is still a matter of debate, but for some observers the question is whether they will hit 4 trillion cubic feet or merely set a new record at 3.9 Tcf.
