HIOS Asks OK to Retask US Gulf Gasline

A natural gas pipeline from the Gulf of Mexico that its owner said has seen declining use since 1981 may soon get a new lease on life thanks to an offshore export facility being developed by Delfin LNG. High Island Offshore System (HIOS) has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) for permission to abandon a 66-mile, 42-inch diameter mainline, a pig launcher and the system's platform at West Cameron Block 167 in the Gulf so that they can be retasked for use by Delfin LNG.
