A bill to permanently reauthorize a pilot program to streamline operations at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is garnering support from various parties — something rarely seen in Congress these days. The BLM and several stakeholders have lent support to the bipartisan bill, introduced in June by US Sens. Tom Udall (D-New Mexico) and John Barrasso (R-Wyoming). The legislation should help clear the path for more efficient oil and gas permitting and environmental management in New Mexico, Wyoming and other parts of the West.
