CNOOC Finds Gas in South China Sea

The Chinese National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) found gas 93 miles south of Hainan in the South China Sea, the first time a Chinese company has made a deepwa-ter discovery without foreign partners. The commercial viability isn't known, but a senior official said the well might produce up to 56.5 million cubic feet of gas per day.
