Proposed US LNG Export Projects Seeking DOE OK Grows to Thirteen

As the US natural gas market braces for the likely reality of exporting domestically produced natural gas overseas, the US Department of Energy is seeing its list of LNG export applications grow. Two additional projects and one company have filed LNG export applications with the DOE this week, bringing the number of proposals to 13 and overall export capacity to about 19.5 billion cubic feet per day. Gulf LNG Liquefaction Co. has requested authorization to export 1.5 billion cubic feet per day of LNG over a 25-year period from its terminal in Pascagoula, Mississippi, to countries having Free Trade Agreements (PTA) with the US. The existing import terminal, which opened in October, was to receive gas from Angola.
