The Marcellus Shale in the Appalachian Basin has an enormous reservoir potential, with some industry experts seeing the play eventually becoming the largest natural gas field in the US and perhaps even rivaling the North Field in Qatar. Although operators battle a number of environmental, infrastructure and regulatory constraints, some are forging ahead with their drilling programs and ramping up production in this prolific play.
