N.D.'s Flared Gas Volumes Tick Higher Despite Production Declines

Despite North Dakota's natural gas production declining in August, the volume of gas flared into the atmosphere increased for the second consecutive month as the industry scrambles to complete pipelines and processing plants. Monthly data from the Department of Mineral Resources (DMR) show that gas output fell by about 3.5% month-to-month to 1.64 billion cubic feet per day, most of it produced in association with tight oil coming from the Bakken formation.
