BP Projects Energy Independence For North America Within 20 years

North America should achieve energyindependence by 2030 due to growth in unconventional oil and gas, bioniels and waning demand for petroleum in the region, according to a new long-range forecast by UK major BP. Largely due to higher expectations for evolving shale plays, BP has increased its projection for North American oil and gas supplies for 2030 by some 134 million tons of oil equivalent per year (2.7 million barrels of oil equivalent per day) compared to last year's forecast.
