Brazil, Excelerate Ink Contract for FSRU Set off Rio de Janeiro State

Excelerate Energy has executed a 15-year contract with Brazilian state Petrobras to provide a floating storage and regasi-fication unit (FSRU) specifically designed by Petrobras, that will deliver 20 million cubic meters (700 million cubic feet) per day of natural gas to southeast Brazil.Petrobras' VT3 design is based on Excelerate Energy's existing FSRU fleet technology and has a storage capacity of 173,400 cubic meters (6.1 billion cubic feet), making it the largest FSRU in the industry.Excelerate Chief Executive Rob Bryngelson said the newbuild will be largely the same as other FSRUs in Excelerate's fleet, just with greater storage and vaporization capacity. And like those other vessels it will function "as an FSRU but can also trade like a conventional vessel, or can operate in shuttle service."
