Meritage Starts Processing Plant, Ups Powder River Basin Capacity

Meritage Midstream Services has brought on line a new natural gas processing plant in Campbell County, Wyoming, in the heart of the Powder River Basin. The Denver-based company said the 50 Buttes plant has an initial 70 million cubic feet per day of gas processing capacity and anticipates adding another 70 MMcf/d late next year. The plant could eventually process up to 300 MMcf/d, the firm said. "The 50 Buttes plant is a strategic addition to our significant footprint of assets in the Powder River Basin, one of the country's most exciting emerging shale plays," Chief Executive Steve Huckaby said. Wyoming has long been a significant producer of natural gas and coal, but in recent years the state has also seen its oil output grow from horizontal plays in the Powder River and Denver-Julesburg Basins.
