Japan's Kagoshima District Court has rejected a legal bid to block the reopening of the Sendai nuclear power station on safety grounds. This removes one of the last big hurdles to restarting the nation's nuclear power plants after the 2011 Pukushima crisis crippled its nuclear industry. The ruling came as new data showed that Japan imported a record 89.07 million tons of LNG in the fiscal year ended Mar. 31. The Fukushima crisis forced the country to shutter its nuclear reactor fleet and rely more heavily on expensive fossil fuel imports.
