Hawaiian Solar to Help Reach 100% Renewables

Hawaiian lawmakers advanced House Bill 623 last week calling for the Aloha State to source 100% of its energy from renewable energy resources, which include wind, solar and geothermal, by 2045 — the first in the nation. But island residents already seem amenable to the move. Not only is Hawaii's electric system undergoing a fundamental change from the explosion of rooftop solar arrays, new utility ownership could help smooth the transition, the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.
