WPX cites 'Tremendous' Niobrara Gas Well

WPX Energy reports that one of its wells targeting the Niobrara Shale in the Piceance Basin of western Colorado has exceeded 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas in just over 100 days of production. Based on these results, the well's output in its first four months is expected to equal the production of a typical well in the gas-prone Williams Fork formation in the Piceance Basin over its lifetime of around 25 to 30 years.
