Sasol Canada Buys Land for GTL Plant at Alberta Petchem Complex

Sasol Canada has completed the purchase of a 1,250-acre site in Strathcona County, Alberta, where it plans to construct a natural gas-to-liquids (GTL) complex. Terms were not disclosed. Sasol had acquired an option to acquire the property from Total E&P Canada in February 2012 (NGW Sep.17'12). The site is adjacent to Western Canada's refining and petrochemicals center outside Edmonton. The GTL facility would be the first of its kind in Canada. The plant would convert natural gas into middle distillates such as diesel, jet fuel, naphtha and specialty products.
