Renewable NatGas Gaining in Transport Sector

New York-based Energy Vision (EV), a long-time advocate for natural gas-powered garbage trucks, still isn't comfortable with the role that shale gas has played in the progress toward natural gas for transportation (NGW Jun.10'13). EV would much rather see trucks powered by renewable natural gas (RNG), otherwise known as biomethane. Toward that end, EV has released a new report entitled Turning Waste into Vehicle Fuel: Renewable Natural Gas. A Step-by-Step Guide for Communities. "While the shale gale has certainly given natural gas a bad name, we hope our guide will be valuable in winning over those who recognize RNG as a great technology path to pursue even as they battle fossil gas, since it has none of the fossil gas downsides and even more environmental and economic benefits," EV President Joanna Underwood told Natural Gas Week (NGW Jan. 14'13).
