Canada Sets Gas Transport Push;Better Technology Emerges

Canadian and industry officials met in Ottawa earlier thismonth to launch a road map to expand the use of natural gas as a transportation fuel across the country.The meeting was coordinated by Natural ResourcesCanada (NRCan), a branch of the federal government dedi-cated to enhancing the sustainable use of its natural resourcesand supported by the Canadian Natural Gas Vehicle Alliance(CNGVA), which in late 2010 published “Natural Gas Use inthe Canadian Transportation Sector,” the road map now beingimplemented. The roadmap’s focus initially is to develop amarket for medium- and heavy-duty trucks and buses operat-ing in regional corridors and urban fleets.
