Newfield's Liquids Production Continues to Rise During 2nd Qtr

With natural gas prices remaining persistently low, Newfield Exploration appears well positioned to reap the benefits of its decision to focus on oil- and liquids-rich plays in the US - a shift the company made in late 2009 just as shale gas production was entering its prime. During the second quarter, the company's oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs) output rose 40% year-on-year to 6.1 million barrels or an average of 67,000 barrels per day. Natural gas production was 40 billion cubic feet, or around 440 million cubic feet per day.
