When Rick Perry unveiled his 40-page energy plan, he must have known that he was going to catch some flak and not because the Texas governor and Republican presidential hopeful is offering anything radically new.Perry's plan, said Daniel J. Weiss with the left-leaning lobby Center for American Progress, is a "Big Oil wish list masquerading as an energy plan. It would allow so much more oil drilling on federal lands and in waters that it is 'drill, baby, drill' gone wild."It does sound a lot like the Republican mantra from the 2008 election that forced then-candidate Obama to agree that opening E&P access to some now-restricted areas is in the nation's best interest. And if it hadn't been for the Macondo well blowout last year, some of those areas might have been cleared for leasing by now.
