DOE Project To Capture CO2, Revive Texas Field

Last week, the US Department of Energy (DOE) said construction had begun on a project southwest of Houston that will capture carbon dioxide (C02) from a power plant for use at an enhanced oil recovery (EOR) project at an aging Texas field. The Petra Nova Project will capture about 1.4 million metric tons of C02 per year from the W.A. Parish electric generating station and help revive production from the West Ranch oil field near tiny Vanderbilt, Texas. The Petra Nova Project is being supported by US power producer NRG Energy and Japan's JX Nippon.
