WTO Calls Foul on Ontario's Green Energy Plan

Ontario's embattled Green Energy Plan, designed to create manufacturing jobs in the Canadian province while replacing coal-fired power plants with gas-fired ones, has fallen afoul of World Trade Organization (WTO) trade regulations. Last month, the WTO issued a formal ruling saying the program defied international trading rules by demanding that all foreign-based companies selling clean energy to the province must buy a certain amount of Ontario-made equipment and locally provided services in order to supply power to Canada's most populous province.
