Chesapeake Inks $1.15B Deal With Barclays in Barnett Shale

Natural gas giant Chesapeake Energy agreed last week to sell a portion of future gas production from the Barnett Shale to an affiliate of Barclays Bank for $1.15 billion. The five-year volumetric production payment, which closed Sep. 30, includes 390 billion cubic feet of proved reserves and approximately 280 million cubic feet per day of production net to Chesapeake in 2011.
