Historically, the biggest factor influencing winter natural gas demand in the US is the severity of weather in the year's coldest months, particularly in the residential and commercial sectors. In the 2009-10 season, however, gas demand and pricing may be influenced more heavily by the timing of economic recovery, according to a collaborative outlook released by the Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA), Energy Ventures Analysis and ICF International.
