The US House Natural Resources Committee recently granted a hearing to northern Rockies wilderness legislation that would place more than 12 million acres off-limits to industrial activity in two western states. The legislation, which has 72 House co-sponsors, has been the subject of intense controversy because it would close some existing natural gas fields- and those with high potential-in eastern Wyoming.
