Devon, Anadarko Revitalize Drilling Activity But Keep Shedding Assets

Two of the largest independent US natural gas producers are confident enough in the trajectory of commodity prices that they have plan to ratchet up drilling activity next year while still holding a tight rein on capital spending just in case market conditions don't cooperate. Devon Energy last week laid out plans to step up its drilling and boost output from core shale gas and tight oil plays through 2018, including stepped-up investment in Oklahoma's red-hot Stack play and the Delaware Basin, a subplay of the Permian of West Texas and southeast New Mexico.
