Cairo Signs First Shale Gas Deal

Egypt's Petroleum Ministry has signed its first upstream shale gas contract with Anglo-Dutch supermajor Royal Dutch Shell and US-based Apache. The deal will see Shell and Apache commit to spending -between $30 million and $40 million to drill three horizontal wells in the northeast Abuel Garadeek region of the Western Desert.
