The US natural gas industry is already making use of the expanded Panama Canal and it's not the LNG companies that were the first to take advantage of this new shortcut. On Jun. 26, with a great deal of fanfare, the expanded Panama Canal opened with the transit of the container ship COSCO Shipping Panama.
