The massive wildfires that have burned through a wide swath of east-central Alberta and into western Saskatchewan since early May might project images of Hieronymus Bosch paintings of hell across television screens, but to Canadian natural gas producers, the fires and accompanying shut-in oil sands operations represent something a bit more tangible — lost sales opportunities.
