Alberta Carbon Plan Seen Having Definite Upside for Natural Gas

Seeking to cast off its image as a climate change renegade, Alberta has unveiled a wide-ranging plan to curb its greenhouse gas emissions while also allowing further growth of its prolific oil sands industry. Key elements include an annual cap on oil sands emissions, the phasing out of coal-fired power plants over the next 15 years, and imposition of a carbon tax on virtually all economic activity in the province.
