Japan to Support More Canadian Upstream Research Into Shale Gas

Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp. and Inpex are conducting a joint one-year study on technology relating to shale gas development in the Horn River, Liard and Cordova areas in British Columbia, Canada. Inpex Gas British Columbia, a subsidiary of Inpex and Nexen Energy, is also involved in the study. Nexen and Inpex Gas British Columbia will proceed with shale gas development and production operations, while Jogmec provides financial support through Inpex Gas British Columbia. Western Canadian production may be exported to Japan via the Petronas-owned Pacific NorthWest LNG export project.
