Included in President Obama’s proposed budget for fiscal year 2016 (FY2016) is a significant year-to-year increase for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), the federal regulatory agency charged with policing derivatives, futures and swaps markets. Included in the Obama administration’s proposed Fiscal Year 2016 Budget is a request for $322 million for CFTC, an increase of 29% compared with the $250 million appropriated to the agency for FY2015.
