Boris Alekseevich Prusakov, Editor-in-Chief of the journal "Metal Science and Heat Treatment", a prominent metal scientist, President of the Russian Metallurgists Association, Active Member of the International Engineering Academy, Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Professor, and Doctor of Engineering, died on January 19, 2008 at the age of 67.B. Prusakov was born on June 3, 1941 in Baku in the family of a serviceman. In 1964 he graduated from the Bauman Moscow State Technical University as a specialist in metal science and heat treatment of metals. In 1969 he earned the degree Candidate of Engineering. Until 1979 he worked at the Research Institute for Mechanical Engineering, devoting himself to developing new alloys and methods of heat and deformation-and-heat treatment of parts used in mechanical engineering and to industrial experiments determining causes of failure of parts.
