Ukraine has started to look for ways to scrape together enough money to pay for Russian gas supplies next year, although both Moscow and Kiev say that no payment difficulties are expected to mar the start of the New Year. Kiev is negotiating with Moscow over a possible hike in fees that Ukraine charges Russia for its crude oil transit, according to President Viktor Yushchenko's energy aide, Bohdan Sokolovsky. An agreement could be reached by the end of the year, he said.
