US services giant Baker Hughes has confirmed it has been awarded a two-year contract by Lukoil to drill and provide com- pletion services for 23 wells in Iraq's West Qurna-2 field, as ear- lier reported by Nefte Compass (NC Jul.28'11). "Some of the wells will be drilled directionally, targeting the Mishrif formation, with step-outs of up to 3,000 meters (9,842 feet)," Baker Hughes said, adding that "five drilling rigs and three workover rigs will be mounted on skids for fast, efficient rig moves."
