Caspian Gas Project Nearly 80% Complete

First gas from Phase 2 of Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz project is on course for delivery in 2018, providing a new rival for Russian gas, with close to 80% of the engineering, procurement and construction work now complete, according to operator BP. Work is also progressing according to plan on increasing the capacity of the South Caucasus pipeline that from 2018 will be able to pump up to 23 Bcm/yr of Shah Deniz gas to eastern Turkey compared to 7 Bcm/ yr currently.
