The consortium overseeing the construction of the 878 km Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) that will pump 10 Bcm per year of Azeri gas from the Greek- Turkish border to Italy has awarded the construction contract for the 105 km subsea section of the line to Italy’s Saipem. Saipem will get pipe for the line, which will connect the Albanian and Italian coastlines, from Germany’s Salzgitter Mannesmann International.
