Gazprom Neft Steps Up Iraqi Oil Output

Russia’s Gazprom Neft is ramping up production at the Badra field in Iraq and might amend plans slightly for developing its three fields in the autonomous republic of Kurdistan. The company doesn’t expect major problems despite the tension in the region and the fact that it has so far failed to agree on the amendments to its service contract for the Badra development with the Iraqi government. Accumulated production from the 3 billion barrel Badra field in Iraq, where the Russian firm partners South Korea’s Kogas, Malaysia’s Petronas and Turkey’s TPAO - should exceed 1.3 million metric tons (26,000 b/d) this year, a senior official at Gazprom Neft tells Nefte Compass. Next year’s output should rise to 48,000 b/d.
