Selecting Automation Solutions for Today's Pressroom

Industrial robots can automate transfer and tandem press lines including destacking/feeding arrangements and end-of-line automation. Understanding equipment capabilities enables metalformers to select the optimum solution for specific requirements.To compete in the global market, metalformers must meet increasingly high production rates, maximize equipment and line uptime, operate flexible production systems and reduce lead times. Industrial automation allows fabricators and metalformers to achieve these objectives in new and retrofit installations.Options abound for automating the pressroom. Starting from the front end, an automated line may include a destacker, washer, roll coater, inter-press transfer and finishing with the end-of-line exit systems, which may include multi-station cross-shuttles. A new addition to this family of automation is the auto-racking system.
