Russia’s top independent gas producer Novatek said on Feb. 10 that its proven hydrocarbon resources grew by 1.2% on the year in 2013. According to an audit by DeGolyer and MacNaughton, Novatek’s proven reserves, including stakes in joint ventures, stood at 12.54 billion boe on Dec. 31, 2013 under US Securities and Exchange Commission classification, up from 12.4 billion boe a year ago. Total proved reserves of natural gas, however, dropped by 1% to 1.74 Tcm, while liquid reserves jumped by a significant 26.4% to 134 million metric tons (982 million bbl).
