Europe’s diesel market is heading into its summer recess with higher local production and imports from Asia offsetting a seasonal drop in Russian and US traffic. “August is always bad. We could have done without France coming back, to be honest,” said one trading source, referring to the restart of French refineries after strikes that took almost 1 million b/d of refining capacity off line for almost three weeks in late May-early June.
