Russia’s prosecutor-general has be-gun an investigation into possible ir-regularities in the recent revision ofMoscow’s 2009 deal to supply Chinawith 300,000 b/d of crude oil.The probe is said to have been launched in late February at the re-quest of Nikolai Kolomeitsev, adeputy in the State Duma repre-senting the Communist party.The lawmaker called for the re-view after state-controlled Russianoil producer Rosneft and pipelineoperator Transneft agreed to grantChina National Petroleum Corp.(CNPC) a $1.50/bbl discount onthe price stipulated in their 20-yearoil supply deal, as part of which thetwo Russian firms received Chineseloans of $15 billion and $10 bil-lion, respectively (NC Mar.1’12).
