In late July, demand for cargo transportation from ports of Russia, Ukraine, Bulgariaand Romania keeps improving in the Black Sea freight market. Trade is still brisk, andmost consignors suffer a shortage of available vessels in the spot market since manyshipowners have already concluded long-term contracts for grain and steam coalshipments. Except for a $2/t gain in grain transportation costs, freight rates are largelythe same as a week ago. Transportation of a 5,000-tonne lot of steel products andgrain from Odessa to the Sea of Marmara is currently priced at $20/t and $40/t, respectively.
