In the Mediterranean freight market, shipments have reduced again in mid-March due to the political instability in North African countries. Shipownersrefraining from contracts for cargo transportation to North Africa and laying upships, the number of available vessels has increased substantially. Coastersand sea-river vessels are still the most plentiful in the eastern part of theMediterranean Sea (in the Sea of Marmora and the Aegean Sea especially).Except for about a $1/t decline in shipping fees for some cargoes, transportationcosts have stayed unchanged since last week. Bunker fuel keeps rising in price,and a lot of shipowners refuse to cut tariffs, trying to keep them at the current level.
