Romania: domestic longs prices slide following import quotations

The Romanian domestic supplier of long products, who had been tryinghard to keep prices for October output steady, was forced to follow thedownward trend seen in the import segment since the previous month. Thus,weakening demand for construction steel (primarily from end-users) haspushed domestic rebar and wire rod quotations down by EUR 47/t(RON 200/t) in two weeks. In these circumstances, local steel traders haveadopted a wait-and-see attitude and are buying only if they really need it.
