First days of March have brought an upturn in prices to the Italian market for ferrous scrap, as expected. It is still themost bullish scrap market in the region. While even skeptic traders have agreed that the increase has been inevitable,its size has exceeded even the most optimistic expectations.Unfavorable conditions in the segments for finished products still press scrap quotations down in the most key markets.However, in Italy prices for high-quality scrap grades have leaped even higher than those for import pig iron.
